One way to get through the post-holiday winter stretch is to start anticipating and planning your summer vacation time.  If you, like me, enjoy taking time to do something for your mind and body when you travel, I have a great suggestion for you. Consider joining me for a weekend in New England this June.

This will be my third summer facilitating a workshop at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Kripalu is nestled in the picturesque and relaxing Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts—an easy car ride from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

The location is ideal. Not only is there a large dining room with nutrient-rich organic fare, the outside mountain air is fresh and clean. I’ll be lecturing from Friday evening through Sunday midday on heart disease prevention and treatment, the growing epidemic of diastolic dysfunction, heart failure, and how vibrations and frequencies affect the body. I’ll also be sharing content from my new book, The Great Cholesterol Myth

There will also be opportunities to join me in some yoga with two certified instructors I’m bringing along—our personal yoga therapist and our daughter.

But you don’t have to wait until June to get a respite from winter. You can create your own heart-felt breaks right at home, with yoga. Yoga is powerful medicine for the mind and body, and particularly for your heart! In addition to focusing on the breath, posturing mindfully, and healthfully stimulating many internal organs, yoga soothes the heart by:
In fact, research has shown that doing three yoga sessions a week can help to reduce episodes of atrial fibrillation by 50%.

I hope you can make yoga part of your winter routine, and can plan to join me June 28-30 at Kripalu. We expect a larger attendance this year, so be sure to register as soon as you can.

Now it’s your turn: Do you ever use your vacation time to expand your mind and heal your body?
