The News is Clear: Cell Phones Are a Health Danger!

cell phone dangersThis week, a panel of from the World Health Organization (WHO) released their findings that cell phones may cause cancer. The WHO panel, which contains 31 scientists from 14 countries, said that the microwave-type radiation from cell phones increases the long-term risk of developing brain tumors. This is huge and very important news—and confirms something I’ve been saying for years, that EMFs from cell phones are a danger.

But what’s most troubling to me is the amount of “spin” that’s being put out there by the media. I’ve already seen a wireless association executive speak out trying to trivialize the study by saying that even pickles have been implicated as carcinogenic.

Don’t let this media pushback fool you…

The cellular industry, and even the media, has many dogs in this race so to speak. Who do you think funds a lot of the television programs we watch? So it’s no wonder that the media is going to help the wireless industry cover it up and make everything sound like it’s okay. The same thing happened with the radiation dangers in Japan.

But if you read the fine print on the many of the smart phones, you’ll see that the cellular companies themselves know there is a danger. In that “mice type” at the bottom of their instructions they advise keeping the phone between 5/8” and 1” from year ear to avoid unnecessary contamination. That’s clear acknowledgement that putting a cellular phone up to your ear isn’t as safe as it seems.

So what’s the take-away for you?

While holding the cellular phone away from your ear helps, I firmly believe it’s not enough. The best way to protect yourself is to put your cell phone on a speaker and move the phone away from your body. Plus, you never—let me repeat never—want to give a cell phone to a child because their bodies are even more susceptible to the radiation. In the Soviet Union, children under 18 aren’t even allowed to use a cellular phone. There are strict cell phone regulations in Scandinavian countries as well.

While I’m at it, I’ll tell you to get wireless phones out of your home as well. Cordless phones are like having a cell tower in your home—and we know how dangerous they are. I’ve said this many times before, but it’s a warning we all need to heed.

Let’s not be like the tobacco industry…

Cigarette manufacturers pushed back for three decades, saying smoking doesn’t cause lung cancer. Do we want to wait 30 years to find out just how pervasive the carcinogenic dangers from cell phones really are?

But you don’t have to believe me, or the WHO panel. Do your own research and read the fine print that came with your phone. That should be proof enough that we all need to take precautions.
