Protect Yourself From Radiation Exposure

Our hearts go out to our friends and neighbors in Japan as they mourn their losses and try to protect yourself from radiationdeal with new fears of radiation exposure.

Even here in the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, Canada, and elsewhere, folks wonder if we should be taking precautions to protect ourselves from the threat of possible radiation exposure.

The other day, my colleague and personal friend Ann Louise Gittleman gave me a call about her concerns. She feels the threat is real, and offered some of her tactics. Ann Louise has authored many books on health; her most recent book titled Zapped! Why your cell phone should not be your alarm clock.

Speaking of alarms, I agree with her that we should sound one—and learn how to protect ourselves!

You see, Ann Louise is quite savvy about the subject. She studied with Dr. Hazel Parcells, the late naturopath and chiropractor who worked with nuclear scientists on the top secret “Manhattan Project”—which involved the detonation of an atom bomb in New Mexico.

Ann Louise recommends Parcells’ “radiation-proof bath and tonic” as one of a list of alternatives to potassium iodine pills, so we tried it ourselves at home the other day. Though I don’t yet understand HOW it works, it’s tried and true, simple, and cost effective.

To neutralize radiation exposure from X-rays, fallout, nuclear plant emissions, and even airplane travel, here’s the simple formula:

  1. Draw a bathtub full of medium hot water.
  2. Add 2 cups of baking soda and 2 cups of sea salt.
  3. Soak for about 20 minutes or until the water cools.

To sustain peak therapeutic effects, don’t shower after this bath.

Ann Louise also suggests that anyone living within 50 miles of a nuclear power plant do the bath at least twice a week. It’s particularly helpful after rain, snow, or fog when the radioactive particles are brought closer to the ground.

For cases of acute radiation exposure, she advocates drinking the following sea salt and baking soda mixture daily:

  1. Dissolve 1 tsp baking soda & 1 tsp sea salt in 1 quart purified water.
  2. Take one 8-ounce glass every four hours for the first two doses.
  3. Then space the next two doses two hours apart.

If more is needed, space the doses three hours apart until all the symptoms are gone.
I agree with Ann Louise, and have always lived by the mantra that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.
