Harry’s Trouble

Harry came to me with chronic arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation (AF). He had seen several physicians and was taking multiple drugs—some of which caused lots of side effects—to try and keep a regular heart rhythm. But his heart rate was either too fast or too slow and his atria (the upper pumping chambers of the heart) quivered rather than contracted. All of this left Harry feeling very weak and lousy.

Harry was unhappy with his quality of life and wanted an alternative to all the drugs he was taking. When I started digging into the cause of Harry’s symptoms, I noted that he had a lot of digestive problems—indigestion, gas, bloating, and moderate-to-severe constipation several times a week.

The Great American Diet

I was sure Harry’s diet was causing his digestive problems, which in turn were placing an excessive energy drain on his heart. (If you don’t have enough digestive enzymes, your vital organs have to work overtime to build them.) So we set out to refresh his gastrointestinal  (GI) system by having him eat five to nine servings of fresh fruits and vegetables daily, juicing, and taking digestive enzymes.

Two months later Harry was beaming! His indigestion and constipation had improved markedly, and his frightening  episodes of atrial  fibrillation had subsided. Harry is still following this program and I’m absolutely convinced that by improving his GI health he also improved his cardiovascular health.
