Do Cell Phones Cause Cancer?

For years now I’ve been saying that the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from cell phones are a real danger. And now a major U.S. government study has found a link between cell phones and cancer

In this multiyear, peer-reviewed study by the National Toxicology Program, over 2,500 rats and mice were exposed to the type of radio frequencies that are given off by cell phones. The exposure lasted over a two-year period. In the end, the researchers found an association with two types of tumors in male rats—both brain tumors and heart tumors.

This new study clearly echoes the findings of a panel from the World Health Organization (WHO) a few years ago. That WHO panel, which contained 31 scientists from 14 countries, said that microwave-type radiation from cell phones increased the long-term risk of developing brain tumors.

It’s Time to Get Serious About Cell Phone Dangers

Even the cellular companies know the dangers of cell phones. Just read the fine print on most smart phones. In that “mouse type” at the bottom of their instructions they advise keeping the phone between 5/8” and 1” from your ear to avoid unnecessary contamination. That’s clear acknowledgement that putting a cellular phone up to your ear isn’t as safe as it seems.

Protect Yourself From Cell Phone Dangers

While holding the cellular phone away from your ear helps, I firmly believe it’s not enough. The best way to protect yourself is to put your cell phone on a speaker and move the phone away from your body. Plus, you never—let me repeat never—want to give a cell phone to a child because their bodies are even more susceptible to the radiation. In the Soviet Union, children younger than 18 aren’t even allowed to use a cellular phone. There are strict cell phone regulations in Scandinavian countries as well.

While I’m at it, I’ll tell you to get wireless phones out of your home as well. Cordless phones are like having a cell tower in your home—and we know how dangerous cell towers are. I’ve said this many times before, but it’s a warning we all need to heed if cell phones cause cancer.

Is History Repeating?

Cigarette manufacturers pushed back for three decades, saying smoking doesn’t cause lung cancer. Do we want to wait 30 years to find out just how pervasive the carcinogenic dangers from cell phones really are?

But you don’t have to believe me, or the WHO panel, or even this latest governmental study. Do your own research and read the fine print that comes with your phone. That should be proof enough that we all need to take precautions against cell phone dangers. Don't get me wrong: We all rely on technology in our everyday lives. We just need to be diligent about these unseen radiofrequency forces and try to be productive without being self-destructive. Small changes can make a big difference in our overall health and well-being.
