Are there cancer-prevention habits that can save your life?

There’s no question about it that cancer is one of the most fearsome diseases. I once heard someone say that he never wants to hear his name and cancer in the same sentence—none of us do. But while cancer can seem like something we have little control over, the reality is that with simple lifestyle changes you can reduce your risk of getting cancer, significantly. I've created a list below of the most effective 10 cancer-prevention tips that can help you prevent cancer.

10 Cancer-Prevention Tips

Cancer-Prevention Tip #1. Avoid chemicals, toxins, and known carcinogens as much as possible, and that includes eating little or no red meat. Research indicates that just one serving of red meat per day is associated with a 50 percent increase in prostate and colorectal cancer risk. If you do eat red meat on a regular basis go organic and range fed or grass fed as much as possible to help avoid excessive hormone and chemical ingestion. Remember regular beef is fed GMO corn which could be adverse to us over time. The best red meat in my opinion is buffalo. Plus, of course, don’t smoke.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #2. Drink clean water without excessive chlorine or chemicals. Chlorine kills your natural intestinal bacteria, which support your immune system. To protect yourself, install a good filter on your kitchen faucet that removes chlorine and other chemicals.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #3. Consume raw fruits and vegetables to prevent gastrointestinal enzyme depletion and organ exhaustion. Try to eat at least one raw food per day and drink a freshly juiced fruit or vegetable juice once or twice a week.

Cancer-Preventip Tip #4. Take a digestive enzyme supplement to restore enzymes depleted by processed foods, caffeine, alcohol, and stress.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #5. Fortify “gut-friendly” bacteria with prebiotics and probiotics. You can get prebiotics naturally by eating whey protein, bananas, onion, garlic, whole wheat, barley, rye, and artichokes. Both soy and organic cow’s milk yogurt are full of live bacteria strains that serve as probiotics, or you can take a good probiotic supplement.

Cancer-Prevention Tip # 6. Take in at least 5-7 servings of fruit and vegetables daily, preferably organic, and definitely the most colorful you can find.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #7. Minimize sugar and sweet foods in the diet, because sugar weakens the immune system. The herb stevia, available at health food stores, is a good sugar substitute.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #8. Use natural COX-2 inhibitors, such as green tea, rosemary, turmeric, ginger, oregano, and omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #9. Engage in regular exercise—research shows that exercise is directly connected with prevention of breast, prostate, and colon cancers.

Cancer-Prevention Tip #10. Take a protective nutritional supplements daily, including antioxidants, Coenzyme Q10 (at least 50 mg), selenium (125 mcg), folic acid (400 mcg), and quercetin (200 mg).

Now it’s your turn: Which of these 10 cancer-prevention tips do you incorporate in your life?
